Veterans Day Reflections from Kenner Broullire

Posted: November 9, 2020

As Veterans Day approaches, we continue to highlight the extraordinary Veteran Training Program Candidates who make up the Bancroft Capital team.

Kenner Broullire, U.S. Army Veteran and Bancroft Training Program Candidate, visits West Point earlier this year.

Kenner Broullire attended the United States Military Academy at West Point. After graduating in 2017, he served on active duty as a second lieutenant in the Center for Enhanced Performance at West Point. He commissioned as an infantry officer, but was unfortunately unable to continue serving for medical reasons. After being honorably discharged in the fall of 2018, Kenner began seeking other opportunities. It was at the Service Academy Career Conference that he discovered Bancroft Capital and later joined its Veteran Training Program.

It is our great privilege to share reflections from Kenner Broullire:

Challenges in transitioning from the military to the corporate world

One of the biggest challenges during my transition from the military to the corporate world was figuring out how to translate and adapt my education and skills from the Army to fit a new career and organizational culture.

Overcoming the challenges

Bancroft Capital was incredibly helpful in my transition from the military to the corporate world. Being a Service-Disabled Veteran-Owned Small Business, Bancroft’s structure and stability, commitment to service, and sense of community offer many parallels to being in the military. Having the opportunity to join this team and learn from and work alongside industry veterans has helped enormously in making it a smooth transition for me into the corporate world. While I was searching for a position before beginning in Bancroft’s Veteran Training Program, the West Point Association of Graduates offered a lot of support and presented many opportunities to connect with people.

Advice for veterans ready to transition out of their military roles and into civilian careers

Stay curious, seek mentors, and make connections in industries that you find interesting. The transition from military life to civilian life is a challenging one, but trust in the skills you have gained from your time in the military and be confident in your ability to translate those into your civilian life and career.

Experience in Bancroft Capital’s Veteran Training Program

The opportunity to be a part of the Veteran Training Program at Bancroft has been tremendous. I have begun building a foundation and skill set that will undoubtedly benefit me and anyone with whom I have the opportunity to serve for the rest of my career within the financial industry. I have had the chance to shadow and learn from industry veterans in several sectors, all of whom have taken time and effort out of many of their own days to teach and train the program candidates. I can’t speak highly enough about the program or the impact it has had on my life.

Looking to the future in finance

I look forward to continuing to learn and grow so that I can serve others to my fullest ability.
