Posted: July 30, 2024
Fort Washington, PA – Bancroft Capital, a certified Service-Disabled Veteran-Owned Small Business (SDVOSB), specializing in Institutional Brokerage and Capital Markets services, proudly announces Veteran Training Program (VTP) Candidate Jonathan Huang has been accepted to the highly competitive Villanova University Master of Science in Finance Program.
Furthermore, Huang has been awarded a Graduate Research Fellowship with the University. This Fellowship will cover half of Huang’s graduate tuition. He will begin his educational endeavors at the Villanova School of Business in the fall of 2024. He plans to also maintain the relationship with Bancroft and continue learning from industry professionals as an unpaid intern with Bancroft.
These accomplishments were achieved through the strong Cooperative Partnership established between Villanova Office and Veterans Military Service and Bancroft’s VTP. The partnership’s aim is to provide educational support and training to Bancroft’s VTP candidates.
“I am grateful for the opportunity to represent Bancroft Capital and their esteemed Veteran Training Program at Villanova University. Both Bancroft and the University’s commitment and dedication to supporting veterans is so incredibly unique, and their partnership in the VTP truly distinguishes them in this industry. I am eager to contribute to their mission as I pursue my academic and professional goals,” said Huang.
Bancroft Capital Founder CEO Cauldon D. Quinn, a service-disabled Navy Veteran himself, said, “We are very proud to have this partnership bear fruit on behalf of Huang and all our VTPs, and grateful to Villanova University and their dedication to the Veteran community. We wish Jonathan all the best in what promises to be a successful and fruitful educational journey.”
Quinn understands the value of the sacrifices made by members of the military and their families. He remarked that the restoration of military service members into their civilian lives is not only in the best interest of America and its veterans, but also a profitable equation for business.
Launched in 2019 and fully funded by Bancroft Capital, the VTP puts disabled veterans and first responders in a position to develop a skill set capable of supporting a new career as Institutional Traders and Investment Bankers. Bancroft aims to offer paid opportunities to new VTP candidates each year. Candidate training includes a rotation among the five business units Bancroft operates and an introduction to back office and operations functions, sales trading, and compliance while participating in the VTP. Through their own hard work and diligence, each candidate rewrites their futures as they develop skill sets that last through not one job, but for the life of a career.
“Our company’s success is due to the confidence shown in us by our clients, and this allows us to carry on our mission of training disabled vets through our VTP. We are deeply grateful,” Quinn said, adding, “Bancroft is proud to play a role in assisting veterans in establishing new careers and restoring them as leaders in their communities and society.”
The Villanova Master of Science in Finance (MSF) offers a curriculum that combines a solid foundation in finance with exposure to the areas reshaping finance today. Over the span of 11 months, students are taken through an intensive course load of financial theory and principles, followed by an opportunity to explore a variety of electives in statistics, analytics, quantitative finance, investment management, real estate, machine learning, coding, and more.
The MSF Fellows program is a competitive graduate assistantship program that allows students to pursue their MSF degree with reduced tuition charges while obtaining a realistic view of academic research. The program begins in the fall semester.
VTP Candidate Sergeant Jonathan Huang is a former United States Marine Corps Infantry Assaultman who holds a degree in Marketing from Kean University. Jonathan enlisted in the Marine Corps Reserves during the summer of 2017. Having a desire to pursue higher education immediately upon completion of training, Huang enrolled himself as a student at Kean University for the following spring semester, where he successfully completed one full semester before being called to serve overseas in Afghanistan.
While deployed, Huang served as base defense and supported outside the wire patrols as a driver and machine gunner in active combat. When he arrived home, Huang finished out his undergraduate at Kean University and has developed an interest in finance.
