Bancroft GEOIntelligence Group Honors the 80th Anniversary of D-Day
Posted: June 6, 2024
On this day 80 years ago, U.S. forces along with our British and Canadian Allies and some others, launched the largest seaborne invasion in history on “Fortress Europe.” This was one of the defining moments in the journey to defeat tyranny, that of Nazi Germany.
The Allied invasion force was comprised of 150,000 Troops with over 73,000 from the United States, in addition to many thousands of supporting U.S. Sailors and Airmen. By the end of the first day, it is estimated that the U.S. lost 2,501 killed in action with over 5,000 wounded or missing in action.
By the end of the campaign, total U.S. casualties were about 135,000, with 29,000 killed and 106,000 wounded and missing in action.
But their contributions were game-changing! Less than a year later, Nazi Germany was defeated and Hitler was dead, resulting in what continues to be known as “Victory in Europe.”
Please join Bancroft Capital’s Team in remembrance of those that served our Nation throughout history, especially those that gave all and did not return to their loved ones. They will never be forgotten!
